About The Women’s Center

The Women’s Center serves over 100,000 women, men and children annually

Founded in 1979, The Women’s Center of Tarrant County is located in Fort Worth, Texas. Its mission is to inspire and empower women, men and children to overcome violence, crisis and poverty. Today, The Women’s Center serves over 100,000 women, men and children annually through its three major programs: Rape Crisis and Victim Services, Employment Solutions, and General Counseling.


In 1983, the Rape Crisis and Victim Services program developed Play it Safe!®. Today, The Women's Center operates one of the most comprehensive rape crisis programs in the nation, and provides a continuum of services for survivors, their significant others, and the community:

•Trauma informed individual and group therapy for children and adults
• 24-hour hotline
• Crisis intervention at hospital rape exam sites
• Support for victims involved in the criminal justice process
• Prevention & education programs including Play it Safe!®
